The Science of Color PERCEPTION

1. Describe Color and it's effects on emotions. Use the appropriate vocabulary of color in your posting.
Red makes us feel love, danger, and violence. red also is believed to make us feel hungry. Wearing red has a different effect on our emotions though, making us feel more dominant. There were experiments made backing this up, showing that those who wore red had more confidence. Red also plays affect on how we perceive time, showing that if you go into a red room compared to going into a blue room, time goes by faster. It is believed tp have this affect on time because red is altering a state of arousal making us aware of our surroundings, making us want time to slow down which is why it does in our mind. Blue is often related to feeling of sadness, depression, and calming. But blue was seen to make us stay up and be more energized during the nighttime. blue is also a color that we scientifically just know, where as red is a color we have to learn and develop overtime.

2. What is a theoretical aspect of color that most intrigues/fascinates you? Why?
A theory of color is that color doesn't exist its an illusion that helps us see the world we are supposed to see. This fascinates me because it is possible we all see color differently and are just taught the name of the color we see. Color helps us in the world in so many ways.

3. In the video, what made the biggest impression on you in regards to color and Why?
Learning language and learning color terms can change the way that our brain sees the visual world and categorizes it. It was proven that the way we process color and learn language are connected. This is interesting to me because I never would have assumed the two were connected in learning.
