Module 6- video

1. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned.

In Greece, churches are the most important aspect of towns and was typically the center of them, which led to artwork being a very important aspect of their lives as well. Byzantine artwork and late Greece had influence in their art from Europe. The revolution created new influences to art and movement, they focused on wanting to capture and focus on the heroic aspect of them taking their freedom back. It was clearly shown that humans were the center of life in Greece, and it shows that as a human, you can't appreciate living and life itself if you don't know your past. Athens was obsessed with the human body and form. They would take influence from others when working out, which is also depicted in their artwork. Their work created a sense of what the "perfect" form would look like.

2. How do the videos relate to the readings in the OER Content?

The first video, which was "Beyond the Classical", relates to the content tab, because it discussed iconography, symbolism of the time period, and how the artwork became influential.

3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the themes/topics for this week?

Personally, I liked each film. Because I have previously taken art history 1 and 2, I learned a lot of things  already but there were some things I didn't learn previously which was nice. However, there could have been a little more in depth explanations about the pieces, because I would have liked to learn more.
