I picked Florence: Heart of the Renaissance because Renaissance artwork is my favorite type of artwork to learn about. The second video I chose was Understanding Art: Baroque Art and I chose this video because I want to learn more about this type of artwork.

In florenc3: Heart of the Renaissance, Florence was the home of the Renaissance. Their main focus was on religion, a lot of their artwork revolved around religion and God. Artists at this time loved the naked body, especially the male nude. Paintings and sculpture wasn't the only importance the came out of the Renaissance, but so was architecture. They had medieval themed architecture, emphasis on their domes. their interior in the buildings is just as important as the exterior. In Understanding Art: Baroque, Rome was where the Baroque movement began. Some of the greatest artwork came from this movement. Architecture was a important part of this movement, the Piazza was a huge gathering place that can fit thousands of people. The paintings of this movement was very dramatic and dark compared to the work from previous artworks. The artworks filled the interior of buildings with huge paintings and murals. this movement went to Italy and spread everywhere, and adopted local customs and changed at every location.

 The Florence: Heart of the Renaissance video was a good film because it showed all important aspects of the Renaissance without leaving out the artwork that usually doesn't get shown as much as the more well known art. Understanding Art: Baroque made me realize I enjoy Baroque artwork more than Renaissance artwork as I stated earlier. The drama and darkness of this kind of artwork is very interesting to me. This videos showed all aspects of the movement as well and where it traveled and how it changed.
